For more than a decade, I was a hotelier, 13 years to be exact. My time schedule depends on a duty roster, morning shift, afternoon, or night shift, including my regular day-offs which changes every week. Weekends and holidays are the busiest time for hotels meaning you can't get to spend time with your family because you have to go to work. See you next year, Christmas!

Fast forward 2020, with a global pandemic crisis and an extensive lockdown in our area. Everyone was advised to stay at home. And because of this, I get to spend quality time with my family and loved ones. It made me realize that this is the life I want for myself. I want to dedicate my time to my family, spend the weekends and holidays with them. No more duty roster that tells me my schedule for the entire month.

Here comes the challenging part - applying for a freelancing job. It is not easy to look for work-from-home or virtual assistant jobs when you don't even know where and how to start. Good thing there is FVA Academy that will guide you on how to become a freelancer or virtual professional and stays with you until you get hired by your very first client.

The course is divided into 4 parts: week 1 is all about virtual assistance set-up; week 2 is for social media basics (setting up Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts); week 3 is for website creation & optimization and week 4 is a bonus lesson where you can learn the basic lead generation, Facebook ads and building your empire as a Freelancer. This 4-week course is very much helpful, I was able to identify the skills I already have from my previous work experience as an admin support specialist. I gain an understanding of the services I can offer like social media management, basic website design, graphic design, search engine optimization and so much more.

And now, with 3 weeks of training and building my portfolio, I am excited to say that I am ready. I am more confident than I was 3 weeks before. Ready to take on the jobs that will be given by my clients and to stand by my promise - a RELIABLE virtual assistant.
